BIG SANDY LAKE — The La Ronge RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing 78 year old Tony Olekas out of the Big Sandy Lake, Saskatchewan area.
Tony left his home in Nipawin on July 18, 2016, heading about 14 kilometres west of Hanson Lake Road near Big Sandy Lake to stay with a group of friends. He was last seen mushroom picking at Big Sandy Lake Cabins located on Highway 106 between Smeaton and Deschambeault Lake on July 22, 2016.
He was last seen wearing black pants, a dark blue shirt and carrying a red basket.
RCMP have conducted searches on the ground and The Civil Air Search and Rescue Association was deployed to the area.
Tony’s family says he had no medical issues, and they believe he may have become disoriented and got lost in the woods.
Tony is described as:
• GENDER: Male.
• ETHNICITY: Caucasian.
• HAIR: Grey, short.
• EYES: Brown.
• HEIGHT: 5 feet 11 inches.
• WEIGHT: 178 pounds.
